Cashing out a bonus: wagering, max bet and max cashout
Values per casino compared.
A casino bonus adds to the balance, but it can only be cashed out once its conditions are met. Three limits decide this: the wagering requirement, the maximum bet per round and the maximum cashout from bonus money. They apply on top of the cashier's general withdrawal limits, meaning the daily, weekly and monthly caps, and they kick in earlier: as long as a bonus is active, its rules decide whether and how much of a win can be withdrawn. Minimum amount, method and processing time only matter after that.
Anyone trying to cash out a casino bonus is usually in the same situation. Someone accepted a bonus, won, and found out at the cashier that the amount is locked. One player put it in a single line: "Hab eine wette gemacht und gewonnen aber ich kann keinen Cent auszahlen?" (I placed a bet and won, but I cannot withdraw a single cent?). The answer almost always sits in the bonus terms and not in the general rules for online casino withdrawals that apply to a balance without a bonus.
Five casinos are compared: HellSpin, Verde Casino, Nomini, Izzi Casino and Starda Casino. The figures come from the operators' bonus terms and from casino.guru, AskGamblers and LCB. Where the sources disagree, both values are shown side by side. Where no figure is published, the entry reads "not stated". Bonus codes and time-limited promotions are not part of the comparison, because they change faster than the rules behind them.

Wagering requirement by casino
The wagering requirement defines how often an amount has to be staked before bonus money turns into a balance that can be withdrawn. Two details matter: the multiplier and the base. A multiplier of 40x on the bonus means stakes equal to forty times the bonus amount. If the same multiplier applies to deposit and bonus combined, the total stake required grows considerably, even though the number looks identical. Anyone comparing two offers should therefore always read both details and never just the multiplier.
HellSpin requires 40x the bonus according to casino.guru. The welcome bonus is, according to AskGamblers, 100 % up to €1,000 plus 100 free spins on the first deposit, with a minimum deposit of €20. The base here is the bonus alone; the deposit does not count towards wagering. That gives HellSpin, like Verde Casino, the simplest calculation: bonus amount times forty.
Verde Casino states 40x on the bonus amount in its own bonus terms. The welcome package covers up to €1,200 and 220 free spins spread over four deposits; the first deposit receives 120 % up to €300, the second 150 % up to €300.
Nomini calculates differently: 35x on deposit and bonus combined, with free spin winnings at 40x. The welcome bonus is 100 % up to €500 plus 200 free spins and 1 Bonus Crab with a minimum deposit of €20. Because the deposit is part of the base, the lower multiplier is less generous than the number 35 suggests. With a 100 % bonus the base is twice the bonus alone, and the stake required is correspondingly higher than with 40x on the bonus.
Izzi Casino states 45x, but the sources disagree on the base: according to casino.guru the multiplier applies to bonus and deposit, according to AskGamblers to the bonus alone. This concerns the offer of 50 % up to €300 on the first deposit (min. €20). With a 50 % bonus the difference is large: if the casino.guru reading applies, the total stake required is three times as high as under AskGamblers.
Starda Casino also states 45x for 100 % up to €600, on bonus and deposit according to casino.guru, on the bonus only according to AskGamblers. With a 100 % bonus the first reading doubles the total stake. For the variant with 500 free spins, 40x the bonus applies, and free spin winnings must be wagered 30x according to AskGamblers. Two offers from the same casino can therefore differ in both multiplier and base.
That leaves the question of the legal framework in Austria. Under § 3 GSpG, gambling in Austria is reserved to the federal state, and the online monopoly offer is win2day, run by Österreichische Lotterien. The wagering requirements of the five casinos compared come from their own terms and bonus rules, not from an Austrian law. What the monopoly, licences and the payment blocking planned under the government bill mean for withdrawals is summarised in the overview of the legal situation in Austria.
III
Maximum bet and deadline
As long as wagering is not complete, all five casinos cap the stake per round, and the value is the same everywhere: €5. HellSpin states €5, Nomini €5, Izzi Casino €5 per bet on the 50 % up to €300 deposit bonus, Starda Casino €5 per bet while a deposit bonus is active. Verde Casino words the rule most precisely: €5 per spin, gamble feature included, a feature buy counts as a spin, and the cap applies until wagering is complete.
The maximum bet is easy to miss, because the casino often technically accepts a higher stake. The bonus rule still applies. The feature buy in particular is a trap: it costs a multiple of the base stake and counts as a single spin at Verde Casino, so a single buy can push past the €5 cap. The gamble feature after a win, where the win is doubled or lost, also falls under the cap at Verde. According to casino.guru, HellSpin also reserves the right to withhold winnings in cases of low-risk play, multiple use of a bonus or depositing only when bonus offers are running. How the game was played during the bonus phase therefore counts when a withdrawal is checked.
The second limit is time. Nomini gives 10 days from bonus activation, Verde Casino 5 days to wager, unless the bonus states otherwise. No deadline is published for HellSpin, Izzi Casino and Starda Casino, so the entry is not stated. At Verde Casino the entire stake for a bonus with 40x wagering therefore has to be reached within five days, at Nomini the total from 35x on deposit and bonus within ten days.
A forum question shows how multiplier, base and deadline interact. A player deposits €1, receives a €20 bonus and asks: "Ab wann könnte ich mir das geld auszahlen lassen?" (From when could I withdraw the money?). The answer does not depend on the size of the deposit, but on the terms of that one bonus. Only once wagering is complete within the deadline, with no stake above the maximum, does the bonus balance turn into real money. Until then the whole amount is tied to the bonus.
The bonus deadline should not be confused with the withdrawal time. The deadline counts how long wagering may take. Only after that does the money actually start moving: request, check, processing and crediting. How long that second part takes for each method is shown in the overview of withdrawal time with the processing times of the five casinos.
IV
Maximum cashout from bonus money
The third limit is the least visible: even when wagering is complete, some bonuses only allow a fixed amount to be withdrawn. This maximum cashout is independent of the cashier's daily or monthly limit. It is attached to the bonus itself and differs within the same casino depending on the offer. It is strictest for no-deposit bonuses and no-deposit free spins.
HellSpin tiers the cap by bonus according to casino.guru's bonus cards. For the 1st to 3rd deposit bonus the cashout is unlimited, for the 4th deposit bonus of 25 % it is €10,000, and for 15 free spins without a deposit it is €50. A large win from the welcome package is therefore not capped, while a win from the no-deposit free spins is.
Verde Casino distinguishes two cases. For a no-deposit bonus, the max cashout follows the terms of that bonus; the rule applies from €500, plus the deposit amount. For other bonuses, the bonus terms state a maximum of €50 transferable.
Nomini states no cap for the deposit bonus. For the no-deposit bonus the cashout is limited to 5x the bonus amount, and for no-deposit free spins to winnings of at most €80. Izzi Casino already caps the cashout on the deposit bonus at 5x the bonus amount; for the no-deposit free spins (50 FS Izzi Art) the cap is 10x. At Izzi the max cashout is therefore relevant for the regular welcome bonus too, not only for free offers.
Starda Casino caps the cashout on the 100 % up to €600 offer at 10x the bonus according to both sources. For the variant with 500 free spins the figures differ: unlimited according to casino.guru, also 10x the bonus according to AskGamblers. Here too, the version of the terms shown when the bonus is accepted is what counts.
The gap between wagering and max cashout is where many withdrawals fail. Completed wagering does not mean the whole balance is released. If the win is above the cap of the bonus, only the permitted part becomes withdrawable. Anyone playing with a bonus should therefore work back from the max cashout: with a cap of 5x the bonus, any win beyond that is not available for withdrawal.
Once wagering is complete and the cap is clear, the route remains to be chosen. It can already affect the bonus at deposit stage: at Nomini, deposits via Skrill and Neteller do not count towards the welcome bonus according to AskGamblers. Which routes are open to players from Austria, split into bank, card, e-wallet and crypto, is summarised in the overview of withdrawal methods.
Anyone who funded a bonus with Paysafecard faces an extra question at the cashier, because a withdrawal to the card itself is usually not possible. The bonus balance then has to leave the casino by another route, and that route should be settled before depositing. Which options remain after a Paysafecard deposit is explained step by step on the page about withdrawing to Paysafecard.
V
Withdrawing before wagering: what happens
The most common conflict arises when a player wants to withdraw before wagering is complete. One player describes it like this: he wanted to move his deposit back to his bank account, but the withdrawal was blocked "weil ich den erforderlichen Umsatz für meinen Bonus noch nicht erreicht habe" (because I had not yet reached the wagering required for my bonus). His follow-up: "Was soll ich nur tun?" (What am I supposed to do?). The block is not a technical error but the result of the bonus rule that ties deposit and bonus together.
What happens to the money is handled differently in the operators' terms. Several casinos keep a share if a deposit was not wagered. Starda charges 10 % of the amount in this case. Nomini keeps 10 % (min. €0.50) according to its terms, 15 % for card and bank transfer, if the deposit was not wagered at least 1x. Izzi charges a 10 % commission according to LCB if a withdrawal is made before the wagering requirements are met. At Verde Casino the casino keeps 20 % according to its terms if wagering is below 2x the deposit, and may charge a fee on unwagered money. For HellSpin, nothing is stated for this case.
It is harder for players who win in bonus mode. One player deposited €500, won €700 and received no payout; the casino's reasoning, in his words: "ich habe im Bonusmodus gespielt und ein Bonus heisst nicht richtiges Geld" (I played in bonus mode and a bonus is not real money). His question: "ist das überhaupt erlaubt?" (Is that even allowed?). What counts are the bonus terms agreed to when the bonus was accepted. At Verde Casino, according to its terms, winnings are forfeited in cases of bonus abuse, duplicate or third-party accounts and fraud.
Before the first withdrawal there is usually an identity check, and a bonus win does not change that. With a win from bonus money in particular, the casino looks more closely at whether account, payment method and play history match. Which documents are requested, when the check happens and how long it takes is described on the page about verification before a withdrawal in detail.
Sometimes a withdrawal never even reaches the check. One player reports that when he tried to withdraw by any method, only a notice appeared: "a message appeared that I had to make a deposit". Messages like this are often linked to bonus or deposit rules that the casino checks before every withdrawal. The reasons for refusal found in casino terms are summarised on the page "withdrawal declined", ordered by how often they occur.
If wagering is complete and the withdrawal still hangs, the problem usually no longer lies with the bonus. One player reports two requests of €300 each that stayed open while support only replied: "Support keeps telling me I will get it soon". Which statuses exist, what a pending or reversed request means and what the terms say about it is explained step by step on the page about withdrawal problems.
Three practical rules follow. First: read the bonus terms before accepting, namely multiplier, base, maximum bet, deadline and max cashout. Second: anyone who wants to be able to withdraw their deposit at any time does not accept a bonus, because without a bonus there is no wagering tie. Third: keep screenshots of the bonus terms at the time of acceptance, so that in a dispute it can be shown which version applied.
Short answers
Frequently asked questions about cashing out a bonus
Can a casino bonus be cashed out?
Yes, but only after the bonus terms are met. Across the five casinos compared, wagering ranges from 35x (Nomini, on deposit and bonus) to 45x (Izzi Casino and Starda Casino). After that, a max cashout limits the withdrawable amount on some bonuses.
From when can I withdraw bonus money?
Once wagering is complete within the deadline and no stake was above the €5 maximum. The deadline is 10 days from bonus activation at Nomini and 5 days at Verde Casino; for HellSpin, Izzi Casino and Starda Casino nothing is stated.
Why can I not withdraw a single cent despite winning?
As long as a bonus is active, deposit, bonus and winnings are tied to wagering. Only after wagering is complete does the balance become real money. A max cashout can also apply, such as 10x the bonus at Starda Casino or 5x the bonus at Izzi Casino.
What happens if I withdraw before wagering is complete?
Depending on the casino, a share is kept: 10 % at Starda, 10 % (min. €0.50) or 15 % for card and bank transfer at Nomini, a 10 % commission at Izzi Casino according to LCB, and 20 % at Verde Casino if wagering is below 2x the deposit.
What is the maximum bet with a bonus?
At all five casinos €5 per bet while the bonus is active. Verde Casino includes the gamble feature and counts a feature buy as a spin.
May a casino refuse winnings from bonus mode?
What counts are the bonus terms agreed to on acceptance. Winnings above the max cashout and winnings after breaches of the maximum bet or bonus rules are not paid out under the operators' terms; Verde Casino names bonus abuse, duplicate and third-party accounts.
